Leon is a medical scientist with a unique passion for learning and teaching. He was born in the Netherlands and started competing in sports early in life. This resulted in a national title in Judo as well as a top-5 ranking in tennis in his teenage years. Professionally, Leon initially pursued an academic career, and with two PhDs he created a niche for himself in the area of clinical research methodology. After having built a track record in medical research, he transitioned from an academic to a business setting and had an extensive career in analyzing and advising complex decisions in model-integrated drug development. While tennis was his main athletic activity in his late teens and he played division I tennis at the University of Texas in San Antonio, he never lost his interest in meditative practices and martial arts. Leon has been a long-time practitioner of aikido and iaido and he lived, worked, and trained in Japan for eight years. In 2017, after an eye-opening experience, Leon started formalizing ideas to share his unique views, experience, and skills towards helping people rather than helping an industry. This resulted in a profound methodology for mental fitness, documented in a book and implemented in the 2Mynds platform. Leon is a lifelong learner and pretty much enjoys any kind of movement of the mind and body.
