Leon is a medical scientist and the founder of 2Mynds. He has a long history of competitive sports and he was a national champion in Judo and a top ranked junior in tennis in the Netherlands. He did not pursue sports professionally, but became a physical therapist and later decided to make a career in health care research. Leon has two PhDs from different medical schools and has extensive experience in advising complex decisions in drug development. He still consults on behalf of Certara’s division for Integrated Drug Development. As an assistant and associate professor, he taught medical statistics, clinical epidemiology, and research methodology at Kitasato University School of Medicine for a number of years. He guest-lectured at Utrecht University as well as various universities around the globe.
From his early twenties to late thirties Leon practiced aikido and iaido intensively. He was particularly interested in the meditative aspects of martial arts. He began to understand that true stillness has nothing to do with sitting still and that the essence of meditation lies in its integration in movement and in everyday functional practice. After a life-threatening illness in early 2017, he decided it was time to switch focus from helping drug developers to helping people, and for three years he worked on the development of the 2Mynds system for mind-body training.
Leon is a lifelong learner and he continues to challenge himself in movement and meditation. He is still involved in martial arts and pretty much enjoys any kind of movement of the mind and body.
